Cape Lumber Marketing supply an assortment of different timber species. Structural Pine which is all sized for structural use, Pine 25mm generally used in the industrial sector for pallets, furniture, upholstery and the manufacturing of a variety of mouldings. Saligna, Meranti for general purpose joinery and dense hardwoods like Balau and Garapa for external decking, pergolas and other external uses.
Pine – Grown in plantations through out South Africa is a good sustainable timber available as Industrial grade (25mm) and Structural SABS/S5 timber, treated or untreated.
The treating options are CCA H2 and H3 which is generally used for construction timber and exterior products like Pine Decking , Pergolas and other products. Vacsol Azure H2 which is a clear treatment is used for T&G Flooring/Ceiling boards, exposed internal beams and Laminated Beams.
We can also offer you Pine PAR (planed all round) or Moulded to various profiles like T&G flooring, Pine Decking, Skirting, Handa rails and other profiles.
Saligna (Eucalyptus) – locally grown in platations through out South Africa is available as rough sawn timber, mainly 25mm and is used for furniture manufacturing, T&G flooring, Decking and Laminated Beams.
Meranti – rough sawn is available from 25mm – 76mm thickness’s and widths from 76mm – 228mm. Meranti is availabe PAR or moulded and is and generally machined to order.
Garapa – imported as machined decking and is also available in structural sizes from 38mm to 100mm in thickness and from 38mm to 228mm in width. Garapa is supplied rough sawn, PAR and certain mouldings like hand rails.
Balau – imported as machined decking and is also available in structural sizes from 38mm to 100mm in thickness and from 38mm to 228mm in width. Garapa is supplied rough sawn, PAR and can be moulded for hand rails, pergolas and other exterior products.
Spruce is generally available in imported finished products like Laminated Beams and T&G Panelling however there is also rough sawn Spruce available in 25mm, 40mm and 52mm thickness’s.
We have access to most of the imported hardwoods in SA and can source rough sawn timber which we have locally machined into products like solid Oak T&G flooring, Solid laminated timber counter tops or anything else you require.

Balau (Yellow) also known as Selengan Batu or Bangkirai comes out of SE.Asia, it has a straw color and is extremely dense and durable. It contains toxins that limit insects eating it and it is high in resins and oils which naturally repels water and limits rot. Balau (Yellow) has been the go to hardwood for external timber decking and structures since the early nineties and was first used in the Cape Town Waterfront for decking, stair treads, lamp posts and other structures. Balau (Yellow ) is available in the following dimensions; Thickness - 25mm, 38mm, 50mm, 76mm, 102mm, 152mm Width - 102mm, 114mm , 152mm, 228mm and 304mm Thes can all be machined to standard par or specified dimensions. Balau is also available in decking - 19mm x 90mm and 19mm x 140mm Lengths available 2.4m - 6.0m -

Garapa is a high density and durable hardwood native to Brazil, that starts out golden to yellowish brown and mellows to a lovely grey color with time. Garapa is ideal for decking, exterior structures, furniture and cladding. -
Meranti is made up of many sub species (Shorea) and is imported from South East Asia. Meranti is stable and easy to machine and has been the timber of choice for many years in the manufacturing of Doors and Windows in South Africa. -
Pine Skirting is supplied in 21 x 70mm standard & reversible, 21 x 96mm and 21 x 144mm supplied in standard & SK 2/4/56//8 and 11 in of 3.0m, 3.6m, 4.2m. -
Treated Pine supplied by Cape Lumber Marketing is CCA treated, H2 for internal use like roof trusses, purlins, wall plates and rafters and H3 for external use like decking, fencing, pergola's and more. Vacsol Azure H2 treatment (clear treatment) is also an option for exposed trusses and beams used internally.
